Celebrating 100 years of heroes
In 1907, representatives of the seven first surf clubs met to form the Surf Bathing Association of NSW, which went on to become Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA).
Since then Surf Life Saving has grown in size and significance and is now Australia’s major water safety and rescue authority with more than 300 clubs and 110, 000 members.
2007 will be the official Year of the Surf Lifesaver (YSL) to recognise the centenary of Surf Life Saving in Australia.
